Opening the official London Fashion Week 2023 schedule is the "Brazil: Creating Fashion for Tomorrow" exhibition. The event will be sponsored by Simple Organic and has as a central theme the work of Brazilian fashion designers who - just like us - carry sustainability and innovation in their creations' DNA.
Save the date: The exhibition will take place from September 15 to 19, 2023, at the Brazilian Embassy in London. On the 14th, there will be an event exclusively for guests. So, if you love fashion and sustainability, stay here with us to learn every detail about this experience!
BRAZIL: CREATING FASHION FOR TOMORROW - GET TO KNOW THE EVENT
FALL/WINTER COLLECTION 2023 RENATA BRENHA
The event's name gives us an insight into its objective: to display the work of 14 Brazilian designers focused on sustainability while creating their pieces.
In other words, it will show how fashion can be different in order to make a difference when facing the challenges brought by the global climate crisis.
There are various pieces, from clothes and bags to shoes and jewelry. Are you curious about whose work you can find there?
Well, we will have the pleasure of seeing designs by Renata Brenha, who transforms discarded soccer jerseys into new pieces, and Karoline Vitta, who uses deadstock fabrics to produce clothes with a wide range of inclusive sizes.
HOW WILL THE EXHIBITION WORK?
Each designer was selected by the exhibition's curator team to present a creation specifically made for the event. They must use socio- and environmentally-minded practices in their pieces, promoting both the materials and techniques Brazil has to offer the global fashion market.
During the week, there will also be lectures and panels about sustainability, innovation, and Brazilian fashion hosted by Brazilian journalist Lilian Pacce.
THE IMPORTANCE OF THE EVENT FOR GLOBAL FASHION
The fashion industry was profoundly transformed at the beginning of the 21st century through its rapid growth driven by the fast fashion market and the supply chain's global integration, where we find more and more contradictions and greenwashing projects.
The event highlights Brazil, an enormous country with an abundance of raw materials that deserves attention when discussing environmental management.
On display, there will be solutions developed by Brazilian companies, including microbial pigments as an eco-friendly alternative to conventional dyeing methods. Remember, the fashion industry is estimated to be accountable for 20% of water pollution due to heavy chemical products used in textile dyeing.
The event will also spotlight brands that bring innovations to the market. The brand beLEAF, which uses plants like Elephant Ear (Colocasia) as a substitute for animal leather, is an example, in addition to innovative subproducts from the food industry, such as arapaima skin and salmon from Rio de Janeiro's Nova Kaeru company.
KNOW EVERYTHING ABOUT OUR PARTICIPATION AT LONDON FASHION WEEK
If you know Simple Organic's history, you must realize that fashion and sustainability are in our DNA. Since our launch 6 years ago, we have taken part in several Fashion Weeks around the globe. And each time, we tried doing something special, aiming to take the democratization of Clean Beauty for the largest number of people. At London Fashion Week 2023, it won't be any different!
As official sponsors of the "Brazil: Creating Fashion For Tomorrow" exhibition, we will be responsible for neutralizing the event's CO2 emissions through regenerative planting in agroforestry regions.
Additionally, we will partake in the exhibition with an exclusive area to display Simple Organic's products and show the strength of Brazilian Clean Beauty. Attendees will be able to learn about the entire production process of, for instance, our CB2 Balm, from the ethical sourcing of raw materials to the final product formulated with a blend of natural active ingredients from the Amazon forest.
