The Correct Order of Application of Your Skincare Products

The Correct Order of Application of Your Skincare Products

To enjoy all the benefits your skincare products offer, you must follow a specific order of application. The primary foolproof tip: start with the thinner and lighter formulas and move towards thicker ones. In other words, water-based solutions come first and are followed by oil-based ones.

WHAT IS THE CORRECT ORDER FOR SKINCARE?

1 - CLEANSING

The very first step of any routine is to clean the skin. Be it with our Glycolic Acid Cleanser or another adequate soap or foam, this step removes impurities accumulated throughout the day. It ensures the skin is free and ready to absorb the products to come.

2 - TONING

Toners help clean off possible particles that the foam couldn’t, besides regulating the pH and freshening up the skin. You can even spray or dampen it on your face during the day to freshen up and calm the skin.

3 - SERUMS

This is the moment for treatment, and it will all depend on what your skin concerns are. You can opt for Vitamin C, an antioxidant that fights and protects against free radicals; Retinol-Like to control oily and acne-prone skin; Niacinamide to hydrate, soften blemishes, control oily skin, and calm sensitive ones; Gaba for a natural lifting effect; Oxyresveratrol to fade melasma and dark spots; and Polyglutamic (soon available in the US) to soothe redness. Oh, and you don’t need to stick to only one. It’s perfectly possible to select and combine a few according to your needs.

Two more: the Glycolic Acid Serum and the Salicylic Acid Serum (they will soon be available in the US) are only for nighttime use. They promote cellular renewal and combat pimples and blackheads, respectively. All the other serums can be used during day and nighttime and, if used together, don’t require a specific order among them.

4 - MOISTURIZER

Moisturizers are hugely important to put back moisture into the skin and deliver a radiant complexion. Our Facial Blending is a fantastic option to repair and protect the skin year-round. And our CB2 Balm, despite its texture, assists in hydrating and reinforcing the skin’s natural protective barrier. They can be used during day and nighttime.

5 - CARE FOR THE EYE AREA

The skin surrounding the eyes is very sensitive and requires special care, consequently calling for specific products. Our Eye Balm is formulated to minimize fine lines and dark circles and reduce puffiness. Since it’s particular for the eye area, you can include it into your skincare routine separately, before moisturizers, for example. For day and night use.

6 - OIL

Opposite to what many people might think, oils can and should be used on all skin types. Yes, even on oily skin. Its calming and antioxidant properties fight aging signs, nourish, and make a big difference when applied daily. If you don’t like oily texture during your day, apply it only at night before sleep. Here are a couple of options depending on your needs: BBA Oil and Rosehip Oil.

7 - SUNSCREEN

The sunscreen must always be the last step in your skincare regimen. Since it creates a physical barrier against UV rays – at least the ones recommended (mineral sunscreens) –, the SPF product prevents our skin from absorbing any substances applied on top of it. If you reverse the process and apply sunscreen first, you will end up basically wasting your other skincare items. Plus – and that’s no secret – there is only a need for sunscreen during daytime.

8 - PRIMER BLUR EFFECT

If you wish to prep your skin for makeup and experience a blur effect that smoothes out the pores, you can add our Primer Blur Effect. It will come after sunscreen unless it’s nighttime. Then, it can come after your moisturizer.

FOR EXTRA CARE

LIP CARE SERUM

Here is a product you don't need to fit into a morning or night skincare routine. As you know, lip care can be accomplished on the go. Apply it whenever you feel your delicate lip skin needs hydration and protection. Our Lip Care Serum will secure healthy lips year-round, even in colder, dryer seasons.

DON’T FORGET ABOUT THE SKIN ON YOUR BODY!

VITAMIN C BODY MOISTURIZER

Hydrating body skin is essential to keep the skin’s natural protective barrier healthy and prevent desquamation, flaking, or possible irritation. Especially if you enjoy hot showers, which damage the skin, hydration is imperative.

Our Vitamin C Body Moisturizer also improves skin elasticity and evens skin tone by reducing hyperpigmentation and preventing dark spots.

INK OIL

Time to hydrate extremely dry or tattooed skin! This oil, designed specially for this type of care, keeps the area hydrated for at least 8 hours. Plus, the Ink Oil promotes a beautiful shine and the maintenance of tattoos long term.
