Learn Everything About Our Sustainable Packaging

It’s not news that, here at Simple, we are committed to sustainability, embracing both Blue Beauty and Green Beauty. And beyond our environmentally safe formulas, we also consider the post-consumption: when the product is over, where does the empty go?

REVERSE LOGISTICS OF PACKAGING

You already know that when you finish your product, you can take its empty container to the local recycling center, right? In Brazil, you can also take them to our physical stores, and we will make sure it reaches its proper destination.

However, reverse logistics is only possible if the discarded packaging was produced with sustainable material.

WHAT DO YOU IMAGINE WHEN YOU HEAR ABOUT SUSTAINABLE PACKAGING?

  • Recyclable packaging;
  • Reusable packaging;
  • Products with little packaging;
  • Biodegradable or compostable packaging;
  • Packaging made with renewable resources;
  • Easy-to-separate packaging.

All of the above are considered sustainable, and you can find examples of them at Simple!

Our containers are made of glass, aluminum, PET plastic, or monolayer PE, as these are recyclable. We even replaced the polystyrene protecting the boxes during shipping with extruded corn, which is 100% biodegradable.

OUR SERUM GLASS BOTTLES

Produced with natural raw materials such as sand, limestone, and sodium carbonate, which glass shards can replace, glass increases the life cycles of landfill sites and reduces the consumption of ores. The glass recycling process is also inclusive once it generates employment and income for collectors’ cooperatives and companies that sell shards after use.

Did you know? With every 10% of recycled shards, there is a reduction of 2,9% in energy consumption and 5% in carbon emission during the manufacturing process.

ADDITIONALLY, GLASS PACKAGING OFFERS A PERFECT EXAMPLE OF CIRCULAR ECONOMY

Reusable - Glass packaging can be used for other purposes after consumption;

Returnable - It allows the returning and recovering of the same container at least 30 times, and after this, it becomes 100% recyclable residue.

100% Recyclable - 1kg (2.2 lb) of used glass can be transformed into 1kg (2.2 lb) of new containers without loss in manufacturing and with benefits for the environment and society. It represents significant savings of raw materials, energy, and space in landfill sites and contributes to reducing gas emissions.

ALUMINUM PACKAGING

Aluminum is an extremely malleable material; if you have used our Facial Blending or our Multifunctional Moisturizer (soon to be available in the US), you know what we are talking about. The tubes will become more and more collapsed with use.

Besides being beautiful 🥺, our aluminum packaging is environmentally friendly. Did you know that by recycling just one aluminum can, we save energy to keep a 100W light bulb on for three and a half hours? Or even power a TV for three hours?

Additionally, recycling aluminum is much cheaper than producing it directly from bauxite ore. Only 5% of the energy spent producing primary aluminum is needed for recycling aluminum. That means saving 95% in electric power. Not to mention that the recycling process also helps preserve raw material extraction.

It’s up to us as a society to search for sustainable alternatives that positively impact the environment.

Always opt for sustainable packaging, whether glass, aluminum or even plastic, if you can repurpose it for long-term use. It’s important to understand that nothing is entirely disposable; they all go somewhere. That's why we need to be environmentally-conscious consumers.
