SHAMPOO BARS - WHAT IS IT?

Shampoo bars have the same function as liquid shampoo. They remove dirt and excessive oiliness from the scalp and hair fibers, with the great advantage of not employing water as a vehicle in their composition. In bar formulas, the ingredients are pressed into a solid body without additional chemical reagents, thus presenting a pH level closer to the ideal for your hair.

Effectively, this means product bars are more concentrated, last longer, and, of course, are more sustainable.

Because it doesn’t use water in its formulation, the products are also called waterless, a concept that originated in South Korea from the desire to create more concentrated products, with water conservation in mind.

SHAMPOO BARS - WHY USE THEM?

1. ECONOMIC

As a result of the concentrated composition, shampoo bars usually last longer than the liquid versions. Depending on hair length and how often you wash your hair, they can last two or three months if correctly stored.

2. PRACTICAL

Much easier to carry with you than liquid formulas, these shampoos don’t cause accidents with package leaks. They are perfect to travel with, since they are TSA-friendly and can be packed on your carry on. Additionally, since they are bars, they are multifunctional and perfectly possible to use as a soap.

3. GENTLE

The solid formulas act more delicately on the scalp and along the hair.

4. SUSTAINABLE

While liquid shampoos can contain up to 80% water, bar products don’t carry water in their composition. They are composed only of a concentrated blend of ingredients, making them more stable than liquid formulas. Because of this stability, they don’t require plastic packaging and usually come in paper containers. Moreover, they have significantly smaller sizes and weights, reducing carbon dioxide emissions during transportation. Just consider that with a reduced volume, more products can be transported each trip, decreasing also the total number of trips.

Solid shampoo developed to clean and strengthen all hair types.

Understanding the formula:

• Prebiotics: substances that stimulate hair growth and protect the scalp against microbial colonization. The prebiotic keeps the scalp microbiome healthy, controlling the production of sebaceous cells and, consequently, hair oiliness.
• Hyaluronic Acid: acts as a humectant on the scalp and hair, restoring elasticity through hydration.

Additionally, it’s composed of shea butter and sweet almond oil, both of which, when combined, nourish, regenerate, and provide shine and softness.

SOLID SHAMPOO BALANCE – FOR DRY AND CURLY HAIR

Formulated with panthenol, hyaluronic acid, and hydrolyzed pea protein, it’s perfect to keep hair and scalp healthy. It is recommended for hair reconstruction and revitalization.

Understanding the formula:

• Vitamin B5 (Panthenol): responsible for good enzyme activity and essential for nutrient balance on the scalp. It penetrates the hair shaft, taking care of the follicle to its root, providing a moisturized, silky, and healthy look.
• Hydrolyzed Pea Protein: with similar amino acids that form keratin, pea protein reconstructs and improves hair resistance and vitality.

Solid Shampoo Control has the herbal aroma of green tea, and it’s the best ally for oily hair.

Understanding the formula:

• Niacinamide: stimulates circulation, making it a must for long, healthy hair growth. It also improves hair volume, elasticity, and shine and helps reconstruct keratin. Additionally, it improves the appearance of the scalp, treats dry and damaged skin, hydrates, controls greasiness, cuts down desquamation, and restores elasticity.
• Zinc: besides preventing cellular aging and reducing scalp desquamation, zinc has antiseptic properties that control the development of bacterial infections and reduces sebum production.

CLARIFYING THE SURFACTANT SOLID FORMULAS – SODIUM COCOYL ISETHIONATE (SCI)

The surfactants are foam-forming substances that remove dirt and excessive oiliness from the hair. Sodium Cocoyl Isethionate (SCI), utilized in our Solid Shampoos, is a biodegradable, non-irritating anionic surfactant, which in hair care has excellent properties of cleansing, foaming, and hydrating. It is derived from coconut oil and is known for being very gentle on the scalp, often called “baby foam”. It is an excellent sulfate-free alternative.

WHY SHOULD WE STAY AWAY FROM SULFATES?

The sulfates are potent cleansing agents, used even in dish soap, because they eliminate all oiliness and grease, besides forming a lot of foam. That’s why some sulfates are often used in conventional shampoo formulas.

Many people don’t know these substances are extremely aggressive on consumers and the environment. Contact with sulfate is frequently associated with the development of allergies. Furthermore, when sulfate-based products enter the sewer system, they contaminate the water and intoxicate sea animals.
