COP28: Simple Organic Will Be At The UN Climate Chance Conference Again
COP28 is finally here! The United Nations climate summit – which sets global guidelines to combat global warming – is being hosted in Dubai as you read this post. And we are already packing our bags for our second consecutive participation in the event. Scroll down as we explain everything you need to know about COP 28.
WHAT IS COP?
COP, a.k.a. The Conference of the Parties, is the supreme governing body of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change. The event has been held annually since 1992 and unites UN members to discuss and plan strategies to mitigate the climate crisis and reduce its impacts.
The subject matters are complex and touch on all sectors of a country’s economy:
- From agribusiness to the manufacturing and energy industries;
- Public and private companies;
- From finance packages and agreements to social development programs
The Parties are divided into two groups: the developed countries, which have a more considerable responsibility towards global warming due to their carbon emissions throughout their development history, and countries less developed.
COP 28
This year’s event is being held in Dubai, and the primary theme is the Global Stocktake, which assesses the global response to climate change and the implementation of the Paris Agreement.
Other anticipated topics of discussion are food security, environmental racism, climate finance, and all sustainable finance mechanisms between countries.
SIMPLE ORGANIC AT COP
